We’re excited to share that The Distinctive Von Mod, a Durham custom home built by BOLD Construction, has been selected for the 2026 Modapalooza Modernist Home Tour on Saturday, September 26.
Hosted by NCModernist, Modapalooza brings architecture enthusiasts together for a full day of touring some of the Triangle’s most distinctive Modernist homes. This year’s tour includes eight new and classic Modernist houses and one Modernist farm across Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.
We’re proud to see The Distinctive Von Mod included among them.

A Distinctive Modern Home in Durham
Designed by Bill Waddell of Distinctive Architecture and built by BOLD Construction, The Distinctive Von Mod is a highly personal expression of modern residential design.
Set within a wooded Durham landscape, the home was designed to take full advantage of its natural surroundings. Expansive windows bring in views of the forest, while soaring ceilings, transom windows, and strategically placed skylights fill the interiors with natural light.
The home’s modern architecture is balanced by warmth throughout. Natural materials, thoughtful detailing, and a strong connection between the indoors and outdoors create spaces that feel inviting and livable.
One of the home’s most memorable features is its custom solid wood pivot door, setting the tone from the moment you enter.
Every element was carefully considered to create a home that feels distinctly its own.

Celebrating Modernist Architecture in the Triangle
Now in its 13th year, Modapalooza gives Modernist architecture fans the opportunity to experience noteworthy homes throughout the Triangle in person.
Guests travel by motorcoach between featured properties in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, getting a closer look at both new and classic examples of Modernist residential architecture. This year’s tour includes The Distinctive Von Mod alongside a collection of homes and a Modernist farm that showcase the range of Modernist design throughout the Triangle.
For BOLD Construction, being part of this year’s tour is an opportunity to celebrate the collaboration behind the home and the level of thought that goes into creating a truly custom residence.
